«Mobitel» Ltd. is a Georgian cellular communication operator. The company has the license for providing cellular communications services.

Mobitel was founded in November, 2003, and at that time was not engaged in commercial activity. Company Mobitel, the subsidiary of the United Joint-Stock Company «VimpelCom» (Russian Federation), obtained the license on use of radio-frequency spectrum in GSM-1800 standards on 16th of December, 2005. The Company passed authorization procedure on 26th of August, 2005. «Mobitel» Ltd. started providing cellular communications services under the brand mark «Beeline» on 15th of March, 2007.

JSC «VimpelСom» has 51% share in «Mobitel» Ltd. The VimpelCom Group's license portfolio covers a territory with a population of about 340 million. Geographically it covers the whole territory of Russia as well as the entire territories of Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Armenia as well as Vietnam and Cambodia.

VimpelCom became the first Russian company, which was included in New-York stock exchange listing (NYSE). The Company shares are quoted on NYSE under the symbol «VIP».
